The Canadian Mental Health Association Fort Frances (CMHAFF) Branch has made significant strides in enhancing mental health support for their community by leveraging ݮ’s Digital Care Journey platform. Faced with challenges such as a shortage of primary care providers and long wait times for therapy, CMHAFF sought an innovative solution to empower clients to manage their symptoms of anxiety and depression effectively.

The platform is accessible to clients via smartphones, tablets, and computers, and provides a comprehensive suite of tools, including access to local and online MH&A resources, daily self-care reminders, mood and symptom tracking, and positive affirmations. It also features weekly goal-setting modules and bi-weekly questionnaires to help clients monitor their progress and address practical needs like housing and food access. The platform empowers clients to effectively self-manage their symptoms and seek appropriate care when necessary.

Key Achievements

  • Significant Reductions in Anxiety and Depression Scores: Clients at CMHAFF saw a 36% reduction in GAD7 scores (anxiety) and a 37% reduction in PHQ9 scores (depression) within 60 days.
  • High Client Engagement and Satisfaction: The program achieved an 82% client activation rate and a 93% satisfaction rate from those enrolled, underscoring the platform’s effectiveness in engaging clients across their journey.
  • Empowering Self-Management: Clients were equipped with tools for daily self-care, positive affirmations, goal setting, and access to local resources, empowering them to actively participate in their recovery journey.

Customized Care for the Community

The partnership with ݮ allowed CMHAFF to create a tailored Mental Health & Addictions care plan that addressed the specific needs of the Kenora & Rainy River Districts. Clients could access the program on their smartphones, tablets, or computers, providing them with continuous support beyond the clinical setting.

Regarding the partnership, CMHAFF CEO, Charlene Strain, shared: “With the technology, providers can monitor clients on dashboards in real-time, allowing for personalized care recommendations and quicker intervention from the care team if necessary. Additionally, people are given the tools to effectively self-manage from home, thus empowering them to more actively participate in their own care. The collaboration with ݮ has been instrumental in managing and improving our client outcomes.”

Positive Client Feedback

Clients appreciated the daily affirmations, self-care reminders, and the comprehensive library of resources provided by ݮ. Many reported feeling more motivated and better equipped to manage their mental health thanks to the program’s structure and resources.

The Impact of Digital Care on Mental Health

CMHAFF’s collaboration with ݮ has proven instrumental in improving mental health outcomes and client satisfaction. By enabling clients to self-manage their care, the program not only alleviates pressure on the healthcare system but also empowers individuals to take control of their mental health journey.
